Good morning, Loma Ridge families!
We are beyond excited to welcome you and your children to our beautiful school. Staff is hard at work preparing our school for an amazing first day on August 22nd! We know a transition to a new school comes with anticipation, excitement and often anxiety so we’re looking forward to giving your children and you an opportunity to explore our amazing new campus prior to the first day of school. To that end, we have some upcoming events that we’d like to share.
School Office Opens/Kindergarten Meet & Greet - Monday, August 12th
Kindergarten students who will be attending our general education kindergarten program should have already scheduled a time to visit our kindergarten spaces and to meet with a kindergarten teacher. These meet and greet opportunities offer our teachers some insight into who your child is and what they know in order for our staff to create classes. During the 20 minutes that your child is with a teacher, you will have the opportunity to complete a parent survey that will inform our teachers about your child. This form is also a good place to notate circumstances that make one schedule more desirable than another. Please note that we are not able to guarantee a placement due to the volume of requests we might receive for a specific kindergarten schedule and we will do our best to accommodate when possible.
Meet Your Teacher & Book Fair Family Night - Tuesday, August 20th - 4:00-6:00 PM
Our staff and PTA have been planning this event all summer and we’re excited for it to be a fun, informal kick-off to a fantastic first year at Loma Ridge! We invite all Roadrunners and their families to join us. Chick-fil-A will be available for purchase should you want to have dinner. Our students will receive a popsicle generously donated by Simply Orthodontics for a yummy treat. Additionally, our PTA will be accepting memberships and kicking off what will become our annual Pledge Drive to fundraise for our school. Our PTA will also offer you the opportunity to purchase spirit wear for your family. Your children will enjoy the opportunity to shop at our Book Fair and to visit our Media Center (cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted.) Our campus will be open for parents and students to tour independently. Staff will be available to answer questions as you explore. Please supervise your children at all times. Please note- students may not go upstairs to the second floor of building B without an adult escort. Finally, student placement will be revealed and your child will be able to visit his/her classroom and meet his/her teacher. We’re looking forward to an exciting evening!

Other Important Information
We will be sending out our data confirmation reminder and instructions via email soon and we encourage you to login to your parent portal to complete your data confirmation as soon as you receive our email. Within that process, you will be prompted to review our parent/student handbook which will be located on our website at that point. Please be sure to read it thoroughly and to discuss all relevant topics with your child. Important information about drop-off and pick-up procedures, safe routes to school, behavioral expectations and more will be included in the handbook.
While our school is prepared to provide all materials necessary for your child’s learning, we appreciate any donations you might choose to make to our classrooms. You can find supply lists for each grade level on our website via this link. We are currently being added to the Staples classroom rewards program where you can shop Staples and they will give back 5% to your child’s teacher. Finally, we ask that students do not bring rolling backpacks due to the type of facility we have as well as the storage challenge presented by rolling backpacks. Thanks so much for your cooperation!
