Loma Ridge Report
A Weekly Newsletter From Mrs. Berumen
EDL through the end of the year
As a staff we are saddened that we will not be able to finish out our inaugural year at Loma together on campus with your children and each other. That said, we are 100% committed to prioritizing our students' social emotional well-being by continuing to cultivate connections and relationships even in these circumstances. You will see our efforts virtually across settings- classrooms, library/innovation lab, engagement with me, staff members & peers, and through fun and meaningful social media campaigns. We want you to know that our roadrunner family is here for you and your children. We will all come out on the other side of this with grittiness, resiliency, knowledge and skills that we didn't have before this new reality.
As I communicated prior to spring break, I can't thank you enough for your patience, support and adaptability during this challenging time. We are here for you so please don't hesitate to reach out to any of us should you or your child need us.
When can we get our stuff?
In the meantime, if there is an item that is absolutely essential to your child's learning or health that is located at school and you cannot wait until we are in safer circumstances, please reach out to your classroom teacher and we will work on arrangements to leave the item for you. We appreciate your consideration of the health and wellness of our limited staff members on campus when contemplating whether an item is essential or not. Thank you!

Fun with Mrs. Berumen during EDL
I've had so much fun seeing our students in the videos they've posted in response to my first flipgrid video earlier this week and I can't wait to see their responses to my next one tomorrow. They are darling!
I'll be doing two flipgrids each week through the end of the school year. The teachers will share them with the students and they will also be accessible for student login via our school website. I'll be encouraging staff members to respond as well since our students haven't seen many of them since EDL began. I hope this is a nice way for all of us to feel connected during this challenging time.
EDL Resources
Please also click here to access content from our visual and performing arts teachers. They have worked hard to provide continued learning opportunities for primary music and visual art and we appreciate their efforts.
Our elementary resource counselor, Mrs. Marrocco, has been popping into classroom sessions and staying connected with our students. She is available as a resource if you have any concerns or need pointers on how to help your child process the change in circumstances that we're experiencing. Please contact your child's teacher or me if you'd like us to connect you to Mrs. Marrocco.
Loma Spring "Let's Get Active" Challenge
We are excited to start our next campaign. See the details in the flier below and don't forget to tag @lomaridgeiusd in your posts along with #getactivewithloma. We can't wait to see how you "get active" on social media!
IUSD Grab-and-Go Meal Program
Nutrition Services is providing free breakfasts and lunches to any IUSD student who needs them on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the same locations and hours of service that have been in place since the beginning of EDL (see iusd.org for more information on locations and times.) The meals provided on Monday will include meals for Monday and Tuesday, meals provided on Wednesday will include meals for Wednesday and Thursday, with meals provided on Friday for that day. This change was made to reduce parent trips and better align our practices with the principles of social distancing.
