Valentine's Day Guidelines
We are looking forward to celebrating all the people we love and respect in class for Valentine’s Day. Given that it will look different this year due to health and safety guidelines we wanted to provide some clarity on the structure:
- Students will be permitted to bring Valentine cards and a NON-FOOD goodie for each student in class on February 8th or 9th (depending on hybrid cohort.) Please note that NO FOOD OR CANDY is permitted. Any edible items that are sent to school will be immediately returned home.
- If students choose to bring in cards, please be sure they bring in enough for everyone in class. Your child's teacher will provide the number of students in class.
- We will monitor all paths of travel and distribution to ensure we are following all health and safety guidelines. Students in hybrid cohort A will bring their cards/goodies home on Thursday, February 11th and students in hybrid cohort B and traditional classes will bring their cards/goodies home on Friday, February 12th.
We will also be celebrating in class with creative opportunities and technology components to ensure this is a fun day for students to feel loved. Thank you for all your efforts to continue and keep us all healthy!

Roadrunner Staff Spotlight
Hi, Roadrunners! I am Katie Anderson and I teach 5th grade! I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona where I got my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from ASU and my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from NAU. I moved to Newport Beach two years ago to be closer to the beach and love my new California lifestyle! During my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, trying new foods, spending time with loved ones, and reading! I just started the Harry Potter series for the first time and am enjoying being able to talk about it with my students. I love being a part of the Roadrunner family and am excited for a wonderful 2021 at Loma Ridge!
