Red Ribbon Week - October 26th-30th
At the elementary level, we like to take a proactive spin on Red Ribbon Week by focusing on health and wellness. This year's theme is "Be Happy, Be Brave, Be Kind." Please see the flier for details on how we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week with spirit days throughout the week. We can't wait to see our roadrunners all dressed up!
Halloween Costume Guidelines
At Loma Ridge, we are excited to celebrate Halloween at school by offering our students the opportunity to dress-up this year. Due to our circumstances this year, we will not be having a parade. We look forward to resuming this tradition when it is safe to do so. It is important that students who wish to dress-up do so in a way that doesn't interfere with the instructional day. Here are our guidelines for those who would like to wear a costume to school on Friday, October 30th.
Students should come to school dressed in their costumes with appropriate shoes.
Students should wear a costume that can be comfortably worn throughout the entire day. Be sure to have your children wear proper clothes and underclothes underneath their costume in case they find their costume to be too hot or uncomfortable and wish to take it off before the day is over.
Students may not wear eye masks or headgear that will distract from learning. Of course, facial protection masks are required as usual.
Students may not wear make-up. (For example, no full face make-up, no dripping blood, no make-up on hands that will smear on papers, etc.)
Students should not bring any object that they will need to hold in their hands. Of special emphasis is our State Education Code that states children may not bring any toy weapons to school of any sort at any time.
Students should not come in costumes that depict any kind of graphic violence.
Students should be discouraged from wearing any costume material that could be easily damaged. (We don't want a mishap at school to interfere with the fun of Halloween night.)
Students should not wear costumes that make fun of others or make others feel uncomfortable.
Thanks for your help and cooperation in making sure that this is both an enjoyable and productive day for all of our students. Please feel free to have your child celebrate by wearing Loma Ridge spirit wear in the case that he/she is not interested in wearing a costume.

Roadrunner Staff Spotlight
Hi Roadrunners,
I’m Kari Krumpholz and this is my 4th year as a school psychologist in IUSD. Prior to being in education, I worked at an event production company in Los Angeles. I am the youngest of three children and was born and raised in Tustin, CA. I went to UCLA for my undergraduate degree and earned my master's degree and education specialist degree at Chapman University. In my free time I love to travel, try new restaurants, ride my Peloton bike, swim, and spend time with friends. I love being part of the Loma Ridge staff and being able to work with so many different students and families!
