IVA Intel
Hello IVA Families! I would like to introduce myself to all of you. My name is Alexis Swanson and I am the School Support TOSA and IUSD Virtual Academy Lead for Loma Ridge Elementary School! We have all been hard at work to provide our families with a virtual Back to School Night! Now that we have had some time to adjust to this virtual learning environment, we hope that you are feeling comfortable with the routines, procedures and expectations. We are grateful for your patience and flexibility as we navigate this uncharted territory. Please feel free to reach out to myself or the teachers if you have any questions or concerns and/or positive words of affirmation! We look forward to collaborating with you, as partners, in your child’s educational endeavor this year! Don't forget to participate in our social media campaigns throughout the year with the #IVAGrizzlyDashers.

Our first BOOK FAIR is right around the corner!
The Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.
Virtual book fair will be held Monday, Sept 28th – October 11th.
We invite you to visit our online Book Fair by clicking HERE.
All orders are shipped directly to your home! Remember, 25% of all purchases benefit our school! Happy reading, roadrunners!
A Message from Nurse Crowley
We are looking forward to having your child back on campus in person very soon. Our entire staff has been working diligently to ensure a successful return for each student. In that preparation, we are implementing measures to bring students and staff back safely. We hope that you will partner with us in our efforts for a safe return.
Daily Home Screening
Attached you are receiving a Daily Home Symptom Screener. Please ensure that you go through the symptom screener with your child before leaving for school every day. If any symptoms are present in Section 1, or if they have been exposed per Section 2, it is important that they do not come to school. It is essential that a parent calls the attendance line at 949-404-1401 to notify the school that the student is staying home due to illness.
Illness on Campus
If a student becomes ill on campus, it will be necessary to send the student home immediately.
This year we are taking extra measures to slow the spread of any possible illness by asking
that parents pick up students promptly after notification that your student is ill. In the event that a parent or guardian is not able to pick up immediately we recommend that a backup plan is in
place for another adult to pick up the student in a timely manner when parents are unable to do
so. Students with symptoms of illness will be waiting for parent pick up in an isolated area away
from non-ill students. We ask that when picking up an ill child from school, parents wait in the car at the curb outside the front office. Please call the health office at 949-404-1411 once you
arrive at the curb and a staff member will walk your student out to you. You will be provided an
Illness Notification form that will provide guidelines for return to school.
Illness Prevention
We have implemented many measures over the past several weeks to ensure that students and
staff have the resources they need to stay healthy including:
Increased access to hand washing and sanitizing
Required cloth face covering or face mask while on campus
Physical distancing in the classroom and in common areas
Increased air filtration in indoor spaces
We realize that this year is going to look different in many ways but there is one thing that will
never change; our dedication to “maximizing learning and enhancing healthy lifestyle in a safe environment”.
Welcome back!
Roadrunner Staff Spotlight
This week, I thought I would share a little about myself. I have been an educator for most of my adult life. I have 24 years under my belt, eight as a teacher and 16 as an administrator. I love working with students, staff and parents and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. My husband and I live in Irvine with our three children, Georgia, Jack and Drew, as well as our two dogs, Lucy and Lola. We love spending time in our backyard pool, watching and playing sports, and having fun with friends and family. I am an avid Peloton cycler and love visiting my Pilates studio throughout the week. I enjoy reading and love listening to true crime podcasts. Traveling as a family to beautiful locations across our country is our favorite summertime activity. I am privileged to be a part of this wonderful roadrunner community!
